Then select one of the following options;
1. Reporting an absence
2. School Office
By Email:- wlinveralmond-chs@westlothian.org.uk
When calling Inveralmond Community High School, you will be asked to select an option so that you can be connected with the right team in the school. Our staff have been trained to ask you a few questions so that they can direct your call to the person or team who is best placed to support you with your query.
In line with our school values, please be patient and kind while they gather all the information they need from you. In order to direct your query staff will need to ask for your full name; if you are calling about a pupil they will ask for the pupils' full name and your relationship to the pupil. It would also be helpful if you could tell us the pupil's tutor class or house, and in order for us to prioritise calls we will need details of what your query relates to.
How do we process your call or email?
In the first instance, parent/carer communications will be triaged, or directed, to the Head of House. The Head of House will then coordinate the appropriate response. This is because in a secondary school your child's Head of House knows them best and has an overview of their education. β
For example, it may be that a parent is concerned about literacy, or an issue relating to English and requests to speak to the Head of English, or directly to the English teacher. In this instance, the concern will be directed to the Head of House, who will liaise with the Head of English and agree who is best to respond and take any action required. Any actions or discussions will be recorded, and the Head of House will be aware so that they retain an overview. βIn Inveralmond, Heads of House are line managed by the Depute Headteacher (DHT) curriculum, and Faculty Heads are managed by the DHT Curriculum, Learning and Teaching. Heads of House and Faculty Heads will inform their line manager of any parental queries which they feel they need to be aware of. Staff will also involve their line manager in the discussion or meeting if they feel this is required to resolve the issue. β
Due to the large size of a secondary school, we use a different system to manage enquiries compared to our feeder Primary schools. We have a leadership team of 16 compared to three at primary schools, so directing communications through the Head of House in the first instance helps ensure they are dealt with by the best placed person as efficiently as possible. While staff will escalate issues to senior staff when required to resolve the issue, any parents/carers can request to speak with an appropriate member of the senior team including the Headteacher if they are unable to find a resolution with the Head of House. In the first instance all issues are escalated to the immediate line manager for resolution. β
We ask that parents allow our staff to triage their requests using our systems so that nothing is missed, and we can respond as quickly and helpfully as possible.
