Exam Support 2025

At Inveralmond Community High School, we are committed to ensuring that every student is supported in the lead-up to their SQA examinations.

We recognise that preparation for exams can be challenging, and we are here to help. A wide range of study support opportunities are available to ensure that all students have access to the resources, guidance, and encouragement needed to achieve success. 

To support parents in guiding their children through this crucial time, we have centralised all key study support information in one place. Simply click the links below to access timetables, booking information, and resources for each programme. 


ICHS Supported Study

A structured programme of after-school study sessions led by subject teachers to reinforce learning, address gaps in understanding, and build confidence before the exams.

ICHS Easter School

An intensive revision programme held during the Easter holidays, offering targeted support across key subjects. These sessions provide focused revision, exam techniques, and past paper practice.

The registration form will close at10 pm on the 2nd of April. 


ICHS Immersion Classes

All students must attend final preparation sessions delivered just before the exams, designed to give students a last-minute confidence boost, key exam strategies, and structured revision in a calm and supportive environment. These usually take place one or two days before SQA exams.

West Lothian Council Online Supported Study Programme

Online supported study opportunities and resources for targeted subjects across West Lothian Council.  The LIVE online sessions will be led by experienced members of staff and will focus on exam skills and techniques, which complement other programmes arranged in individual schools. 

As a school, we encourage as many young people as possible to take part in the opportunities and feel that this will further support them in their preparations for upcoming exams.

E-Sgoil Supported Study

A national online study programme providing interactive lessons in various subjects, accessible from home. This flexible option allows students to receive expert guidance from their own home.

Achieve for Students - Online Interactive Study Resource

All Senior Phase students can learn by accessing interactive digital textbooks for each course, which explain and illustrate the key concepts of courses. Then they can test their subject knowledge using the online assessment module. Finally, they can evaluate their progress by traffic lighting their strengths and areas for improvement.  This is a great way of identifying what to revise next.

ICHS Supervised Study Space

During Study Leave, a supervised space will be provided for any young person who feels they would rather study in school.

In order to use the space, pupils must sign up for the days they intend on using this space. A sign in/sign out system will operate. Due to the fact that all pupils are on Study Leave, no attendance groupcalls will be provided to report on attendance.

The school will provide a space with desks and computers and a member of staff to supervise and ensure that the rules of the study space are upheld.

To use the ICHS Supervised Study Space all pupils must:  

*attend in full school uniform
*stay in the room for the duration of the study slot they have booked
*only use the time and space for study
*bring any required materials
*only access the dining hall and social areas during break and lunchtimes
*Adhere to normal school rules regarding mobile phone use and our values of Honesty, Kindness and Respect

The following are not possible in the ICHS Study Space:  

*coming and going from the room 
*studying in any other part of the school other than the allocated room 

During Study Leave, teachers are engaged in other tasks. It cannot be assumed that teachers will be available at normal period times. If any student wishes to see a teacher, they will have to contact the teacher and agree a time to sign in.
