Health and Wellbeing

Health and wellbeing is the responsibility of all staff at Inveralmond Community High School and is central to developing learner knowledge and understanding, skills, attributes and capabilities in relation to social, emotional, mental and physical wellbeing to ensure successful futures.

We are committed to establishing a positive ethos of respect, trust and support across the school community where young people feel listened to, safe, secure and nurtured at all times.

Health and wellbeing skills are embedded within subject areas and through the wider school as part of the Rights Respecting Schools approach and Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).

Some of the health and wellbeing skills being explored in lessons are:

  • Planning for choices and changes
  • Assessing risks
  • Showing respect for the rights of others
  • Encouraging self-worth and confidence
  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • Working with others
  • Improving personal wellbeing

Learners are encouraged to make connections across their learning in health and wellbeing by reflecting on the skills they are developing. One of the ways learners can reflect is through Didbook icons shown within classrooms and showcasing their latest and best learning in health and wellbeing on their Didbook profiles.
