F1 in Schools:- Astar
Astar Racing competed in the regional finals of the F1 in Schools competition
Astar Racing, a team made up of S4 pupils from Inveralmond CHS recently took part in the regional finals of the F1 in Schools competition, competing against teams from all around Scotland.
F1 in Schools is a STEM based competition which sees teams from different schools compete to produce the fastest car, as well as being awarded points for their approach to engineering their car and for marketing their team.
The team finished a very respectable third place overall in the professional class. The team also picked up the award for the fastest car, completing the 20m track in 1.188seconds, that's nearly 40mph!
Astar Racing members are, Chloe Liu (team manager), Callum Sutherland, Sean Malcolm (driver), Aaron Irving, Calum Brammer and Joseph Falconer.
The team were delighted with the result, which sees them qualify for the next stage of the competition. Astar Racing are now concentrating on improving their team performance for the national finals, which will be held at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix!
This is the second year in a row a team from Inveralmond has made it to the National finals of F1 in Schools, and the team are now dreaming of repeating last years success and going all the way to the World finals!
