Kelvingrove Art Gallery Visit
On Wednesday the 8th of February, the Nat 5 and Higher art students took a trip to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow.
The students went to see an exhibition of the posters and art of Alphonse Mucha, a Czech graphic designer and artist, known for his Art Nouveau style.
The exhibition was amongst the many artistic wonders in Kelvingrove - their French art room contained several Cézannes, Monets and Seurats, while another room featured several inspiring homegrown artists, the Scottish colourists, including Samuel Peploe and Leslie Hunter.
As well as the art, Kelvingrove is home to a large museum, notably featuring many natural history exhibits, as well as fantastic sections on Scottish history. Many of the students stopped to listen to the organ recital played on the Kelvingrove organ, surely a highlight of the trip.
Everyone enjoyed the trip; with free time to roam the museum and art galleries after the visit to the Mucha exhibition, everyone had a chance to find something that inspired them.
