Qualifications Scotland Your Results

Qualifications Scotland have now published their Your Results learner guide on their website. It's available to view and download. The publication provides information about appeals, how Qualifications Scotland mark exams and coursework, and next steps for learners.

This guide will answer many questions both before and after results day.

Sometimes after results are published, young people need to discuss their pathway for the coming academic year. If you are unsure about whether your choices are still suitable, or would like to talk through these. Please complete the form below so that a member of staff can speak to you on return to school.

We currently hold all SQA data and will carry out a thorough analysis of this. If a young person's choices require revision in light of results, we will do this on return to school.

Qualifications Scotland Appeals

After results are issued on Tuesday 4th of August 2026, Qualifications Scotland offers a free appeals service for learners who believe that a mistake may have been made in the marking of their externally assessed work.

An appeal is a marking review, carried out by a senior marker, to check that assessments have been marked and recorded correctly and in line with national marking standards. Please note that unlike appeals under previous arrangements, there is no system by which a school can submit additional evidence to supplement or challenge a candidates performance in an exam. 

Learners who are considering an appeal are strongly encouraged to discuss this first with their subject teacher or the Principal Teacher Curriculum, who can offer informed guidance and help them decide whether an appeal would be appropriate. 

It is important to note that an appeal can result in a grade going up, staying the same, or going down, depending on the outcome of the review.

After speaking with a member of staff, appeals can be submitted:

• Directly by learners, or
• Through the school, with the learner's permission.

The appeals service opens on Results Day (Tuesday 4th of August 2026) and includes both standard and priority appeals, for example where a learner has a conditional offer for further study, training, or employment that depends on their result.

Before submitting an appeal, we strongly encourage learners to speak with a relevant member of school staff to ensure the process is fully understood and supported.
