Sphero Transition Event
ICHS
We're delighted to highlight the recent collaboration between Inveralmond Community High School and Heriot Watt University. This project focused on promoting the intrigue and knowledge surrounding computing science and robotics, spurred on by the unveiling of Heriot Watt's new Robotarium.
Our ICHS pupils, guided by knowledgeable mentors from Heriot Watt, jointly developed engaging learning materials and workshops. These were shared with each cluster primary school, stimulating an interest in technology among our youngest learners.
The project concluded with a two-day showcase at the end of the school year. Pupils had the opportunity to participate in an array of robotic challenges using Sphero Robots, offering a hands-on learning experience. The event was a notable success, with participants showing increased interest and curiosity in the realm of robotics.
This project will continue into next year with the aim of increasing pupils awareness of STEM based careers and allowing them to explore opportunities that exist within them whilst developing their computing and problem solving skills.
